What is the toughest thing to do in this world?  Making the right decisions.

Who gets promoted or who moves faster on the career ladder is the one who helps the senior management with making the right decisions with ease.

I like to go with this analogy while building products.
You see, every day we make thousands of micro-decisions, be it professionally or personally.
What should we eat today? Where should we go today? What should I wear tomorrow? The list goes on and we hate doing this.

 

Now, imagine that the user is on your app. Now he wouldn’t want to make another decision right away related to something that he is not aware of or something that he/she hasn’t explored yet.

Decision Paralysis/fatigue, where people are not able to decide and hence move on and do something else.
Therefore, products should ease the decision-making process and remove all the friction.

The Product is me and the customer is my manager.

Just like, if I am able to ease the decision-making process for my manager, I will get promoted, exactly like that, if I am able to help the customer make the right decision with ease, the customer will buy my product.

Now, how do we do it?

1. Clear communication

2. Minimum options to choose from 

3. Removing friction by not asking many or unnecessary questions

4. Showing the user how my product will add value to their lives.

 

The Mantra ?: People are Lazy, Vain and Selfish. :)

 

PS: The product should actually deliver real value.
